Mental Health & Well-Being

At Exhall Cedars Infant, Nursery & Preschool we are committed to supporting the emotional health and wellbeing of our school community. We have a supportive and caring ethos and our approach is respectful and kind, where each individual and their contribution is valued.

At Exhall Cedars our Mission Statement is ‘Learning and Growing Together’. As part of this we recognise that we are ‘FAB’ That we are a ‘family’, that we ‘achieve well’ and that we ‘believe in ourselves’

Embedded within this are our key values.
We encourage all of our pupils to be collaborative, curious, reflective and resilient learners. We also teach our pupils to persevere, to ‘take risks’ and to become effective communicators. Our school ethos and key values are at the heart of the Mental Health and Wellbeing teaching and development at our school.

At our school we recognise that everyone experiences life challenges that can make us vulnerable and at times, anyone may need additional emotional support. We take the view that positive mental health is everyone’s business and that we all have a role to play.

Parents' Well-being Workshop - November 2022

Mrs Episcopo held a presentation for parents, which was followed by class-based workshops where parents helped their child to make a Zone of Regulation resource to use at home!  She talked to parents about why and how we teach our children to support their own Well-Being, including how we teach them self-regulation strategies which they can then use when they feel unsettled or ‘out of control'. Our children learn why it is important to look after their own mental health.
