Music
At Exhall Cedars, we are passionate about providing children with a fun and engaging music curriculum, that inspires a real love of music and promotes children’s musical talent. Music will increase children’s self-confidence, creativity and their sense of achievement.
From Reception up to year 2 we follow charanga, a music programme that focus’ on children playing, creating and performing to develop their skills, where children have the access to a wide range of musical instruments to help support their creativity. Children will also learn to appreciate a wide variety of musical genres and make musical judgements, known as ‘listening and responding’. Children will develop an understanding of the history and cultural context of the music that they listen to.
In early years, most of our daily routines are based around music and singing. Nursery and pre-school, children have the opportunity to access music independently throughout the day.
Children from reception up to year 2 take part in a weekly singing assembly where they learn songs related to special celebrations and the seasons.
We provide our year 2’s with the chance to show case their singing voices in a lunch time singing group, where we hope to perform at upcoming events.
At Exhall Cedars, we believe that all children have the ability to become composers, producers or even pop stars!
