We have been worked hard to revisit and rewrite our Vision and Values to truly reflect our school ethos, and our commitment to our school community.
Staff Responses to the launch of our revised Vision & Values - January 2023
Our Mission Statement:
‘Learning and Growing Together’
At Exhall Cedars Infant, Nursery and Preschool promote the British Values
At Cedars we actively promote British Values through our school vision, ethos, agreed rules, curriculum and teaching. The Ofsted guidance 2014, requires schools to: ‘ensure that they and the school promote tolerance of and respect for people of all faiths (or those of no faith), cultures and lifestyles; and support and help, through their words, actions and influence within the school and more widely in the community, to prepare children and young people positively for life in modern Britain’.
The government defines these values as:
- Democracy
- Rule of law
- Individual liberty
- Mutual respect
- Tolerance of those of different faiths
At Cedars we value the diverse ethnic backgrounds of all pupils and families and plan opportunities to celebrate these. We are committed to promoting British values and this commitment is demonstrated through curriculum topics and the wide range of activities and events that enrich school life. We have found this approach to be enriching for our families and staff as it teaches tolerance and respect for the differences in our community and the wider world. We actively challenge children, staff or parents expressing opinions contrary to fundamental British Values, including ‘extremist’ views.
